We have up to 20 places for 2 year olds in each session (8.45am – 11.45 or 12.30pm – 3.30pm) and currently take children eligible for free 2 year old Early Learning Funded places. Please put your child on our waiting list and complete any additional forms required to confirm eligibility. Click here to visit the Nottingham City Council funding application page >
Our 2 year olds have a room specially designed for them, with activities and equipment specifically selected to support 2 year olds’ development. Our 2 year old children are supported at a ratio of 1:4 and there are 5 qualified staff who are the 2 year olds’ key workers. The 2 year olds form a group known as Cheeky Monkeys, and they have the first hour of the session together with their key workers before continuous provision starts. During this time, they are offered a snack and a drink. They are also able to have 15 minutes outside before the 3 and 4 year olds join them, returning to their room for the last hour of their session for singing, rhymes, stories and preparing to be collected. Depending on total numbers in the Nursery the 2 year olds will move to a group of younger 3 year olds around their third birthday, to a room and new key worker with whom they will already be familiar and to whom parents/carers will be introduced.
In line with the revised EYFS, parents/carers of 2 year old children will receive a progress check in their first term.
There is an expectation for our funding that all 2 year olds attend for a minimum of 85% of their possible sessions. This is monitored and if they do not meet this target, funding from the local authority may be withdrawn and the child’s place may be offered to someone else.
Our 2 Year Old provision was inspected by Ofsted in November 2014, and we were judged outstanding in all areas. Please go to the Reports section of the website to view the report.
