2 year olds
The Nursery School is the only school in the City that takes in 2 year old children.
We have up to 20 places for 2 year olds in each session and currently take children with 2 year old Early Learning Funded places. These places are funded through the Local Authority by the Government and we do not know what funding will be available or when we will hear how many places have been allocated funding with us until near the start of each term. Please put your child on our waiting list and complete any additional forms required by popping into the Nursery – preferably in the mornings. You will then be contacted when we hear if we have funding for you to come in and confirm your details are still correct.
Depending on availability of places for 2 year olds we offer childcare for parents to buy. We have a maximum of 20 places for 2 year olds at any time.
These costs from 3rd June 2013 are:
£181.75 per week (8.00 am – 5.00 pm including meals)
£43.35 per day (8.00 am – 5.00 pm including meals)
£25.70 per half day (8.00 am – 12.30 pm includes lunch and 12.30 pm – 5.00 pm includes tea)
Our 2 year olds have a room designated for them which is fully carpeted and has activities and equipment specifically selected for 2 year olds development. This room is not used during ‘free flow’ which is a time when children can choose, with support, whether to play outside or inside. The required ratio for adults to 2 year olds is 1:4 and there are 5 qualified childcare staff who are the 2 year olds key workers. The 2 year olds form a group known as Cheeky Monkeys, and have the first half an hour of the session together with their key workers before free flow. The 2 year olds have 15 minutes outside before the 3 and 4 year olds join free flow time returning to their room for the last 15 – 30 minutes of their session for singing, rhymes, stories and preparing to be collected. Depending on total numbers in the Nursery the 2 year olds will move to a group of younger 3 year olds the term after their third birthday, to a room and new key worker with whom they will already be familiar and to whom parents/carers will be introduced.
In line with the revised EYFS, parents/carers of 2 Year olds will receive a progress check mid way through the year.
There is an expectation that all 2 Year Olds attend a minimum of 85% of thier possible seesions
